Julianna Uranga

ADVOCACY & PROGRAM DIRECTOR

Julianna Uranga is an Advocacy & Program Director at NEWCO Strategies, joining the firm just after she completed her Master of Science in International Migration and Public Policy at the London School of Economics. She was born and raised in Miami, Florida, and is the proud daughter of immigrants. She is determined to help historically marginalized communities within the United States and abroad build power, while also strengthening solidarity across social movements.

During her time at NEWCO, Julianna has worked within progressive politics and throughout diverse advocacy spaces in the United States, focusing on youth political engagement, the Latino/x community, the climate movement, and the fight for access to reproductive rights and abortion care. She has coordinated virtual and in-person events, including press conferences (both domestically and abroad), providing both logistical and on-the-ground support in-country. Most notably Juli managed the 30-person US-Mexico Delegations trip to Mexico City.

Before joining NEWCO, Julianna served as the Scheduler and Executive Assistant to the President of NARAL Pro-Choice America, where she helped manage the day-to-day operations of the Executive Office. There, she single-handedly coordinated small and large-scale coalitions throughout the progressive space, provided logistical and on-the-ground support to the Executive Office at NARAL’s 50th Anniversary legacy event, and served as a liaison between the executive team and external allies. Prior to that she served as the scheduling intern for the office of Barack and Michelle Obama. There, she served as an intern for both offices assisting Mrs. Obama’s team with the launch of her Becoming book tour and assisting President Obama’s office with day-to-day operations. She is a former Voto Latino fellow, where she helped manage the executive office as an operations intern, helped strategize the #EndFamilyDetention rally in Texas, and coordinated their annual Power Summit.

Julianna graduated from American University with a B.A. in International Studies where she focused on international development and human rights. During her undergraduate career, she studied at the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo. She speaks English, Spanish, Italian, and Brazilian Portuguese.
